Post Factory Outfitting

This Mainship 34 Trawler is better than new! Extensive post factory outfitting has been done to create the perfect Great Loop/ Bahamas long term cruiser. These improvements took a year in and out of service yards, countless owner hours, and in excess of $30,000 to complete.

Galley:

Out of the factory, Mainship’s galley features a 12volt/120volt refrigerator that is insuffienent for long term cruising. We have solved this problem by adding a second 12volt/120volt refrigerator in the main salon. This refrigerator is attractively installed in a custom end table aft the salon settee. For freezer space, a 112 quart freezer has been installed on the fly bridge. This unit is also capable of operating on either 12volts/ or 120/volts. This fantastic unit has the flexibility to be used as either a third refrigerator or a deep freeze freezer. The bridge freezer also features a custom cover to protect it from harmful UV rays.

The Mainship 34 trawler is equipped from the factory with a stove and microwave. On this Mainship the microwave has been removed and replaced with a combination microwave/ convection/toasting oven significantly expanding your cooking abilities aboard.

The addition of under cabinet lighting over the stove and food prep area make after dark supper and pre dawn coffee easier to prepare.

Storage

For a 34 foot boat the Mainship Trawler is already equipped with an impressive amount of storage however long term cruisers can never have enough storage. Forward of the starboard pilot door a very large custom cabinet has been installed. Because the cabinet was constructed from wood purchased directly from Mainship at the time the vessel was built the installation is an exact match to the rest of the vessel’s interior. This furniture quality upgrade provides ideal storage for charts, cruising guides, clothing….you name it!

An attractive wine storage locker was added to the salon and two rattan ottomans replace the useless hi/lo table (although the hi/lo table is available) for additional storage and comfort.

Entertainment and creature comforts

Satellite Television. As much fun as you will have on your cruise, watching the sun set and socializing with other boaters eventually you will want to catch up on the news, see a weather map or just watch a movie on a rainy afternoon. This Mainship has been equipped with the KVH 4 tracking satellite antenna. Mounted on a professionally reconfigured mast this antenna can receive either DirecTV or Dish Network programming while docked, at anchor or underway. The vessel has been equipped with flat panel televisions in both the main salon and the Master Stateroom and wired so that both receive the Satellite signal. The original off air antenna and dockside cable remain onboard and fully functional if you prefer to watch television from either of those sources.

Stereo/ DVD Players. In the salon the audio output has been integrated with the factory installed stereo/DVD player dramatically improving the sound quality. A second factory installed stereo/DVD player is located in the stateroom. Both units are Sirius satellite radio ready.

Window covers. The factory equips the 34 trawler with mesh window covers for the windshield and forward windows and starboard helm door. In addition this Mainship also has custom sunbrella covers for these locations providing relief from the sun on hot summer days protecting the interior from fading when the vessel is not in use. We have further improved the window covers by modifying the center cover and starboard door cover to allow them to be opened and closed with their covers on.

Helm seat. From the factory the Mainship 34 Trawler usually comes equipped with three helm seats across the bridge. They were small and terribly uncomfortable. Certainly not conducive for the many hours a long term cruiser spends behind the helm. So, this vessel was ordered without the factory seats and later equipped with a top of the line Ultra leather Crown Helm Seat with an adjustable base. A mates chair can still be added as the factory installed base plates are in the deck.

Tilt Helm. For further comfort, and to accommodate standing at the helm from time to time the original helm was replaced with an adjustable tilt helm.

Electrical systems

The Mainship Trawler is well constructed craft and for the money it represents one of the best values on the market today. However, as is common with mass production boats there are some things that the manufacturer either overlooks or makes a business decision not address. For instance, the only way to charge the generator starting battery is to run the generator. If the generator battery is dead your in the bilge with jumper cables. On this Mainship these types of oversights have been corrected/ improved or enhanced to create the ultimate great loop/ long term cruising vessel.

The generator starting battery has been wired to the battery charger that serves the main house batteries.

The inverter battery bank has been integrated with the house batteries by means of a smart relay. This relay enables the engine alternators to recharge the inverter battery without running the generator. Makes the inverter battery capacity available to the house appliances and house batteries available to the inverter. However, the relay will isolate the banks when the either bank is drained down 40% to insure that both banks don’t end up dead.
