The flagship of the Cape Dory line is the 36. This fine yacht was designed from the keel up by Carl Alberg to provide the maximum combination of both comfort and performance . The standard 36 is cutter rigged and is powered by a Westerbeke four cylinder fresh water cooled diesel auxiliary. She has 6 berths, carries 132 gallons of water, 43 gallons of diesel, and is a true blue water cruiser. Despite the emphasis on ocean cruising capabilities assuring her ability to stand up in a blow, beat to windward or track effortlessly on long downwind runs, the Cape Dory 36 is not intended soley as a single purpose, long distance, passage making yacht. While powerfully built and heavily rigged for offshore work, she was designed to be equally well suited for the gentle breezes of an afternoon sail or weekend cruise. The cutter rig with ample sheet and halyard winches, jiffy reefing gear and self tending, boomed staysail, make her easy single or short handed. My wife and I particularly appreciate the double head sail rig which offer a variety of sail changes and shorting options. Her interior layout is extremely comfortable and her joinery is Cape Dory's finest.

In addition to the standard sail inventory (main, yankee and staysail) we have a lightweight Genoa and two very heavy duty storm sails and a second track on the mast to accomodate the storm main.

This vessel does not come with a lot of frills. You will have to supply those. We have kept her very basic to keep our cruising a simple as possible.

She is currently berthed in the Florida Keys.
