Crescent Beach, Florida

Model: Yawl Boat name:
Year: 1972 Price: $38,800

This classic John Alden designed Bristol Yawl presents both the style, grace and workmanship of the great Bristol Yacht Corporation. The ?split-rig? gives exceptional off wind and down wind sailing characteristics with little, to no, weather helm. Various sail combinations using mizzen staysails, tallboys and roller reefing and this vessel easily takes on 35-40 knot winds on either short or long passages. As a moderately stiff vessel, she sails strong to weather and handles much better in rolling seas than the new ?light-weight? boats. Perfect for long weekends to month long trips, she has all the comforts of home with new TV, VHS and stereo systems, side boarding swim ladder and barbequing in the cockpit. The completely restored interior is impeccably clean and well appointed with a flare of Italian ceramic tile and French lace curtains. The shall 3?9? draft allows for convenient anchoring close to shore and easy entering into those hard-to reach sheltered coves. A real eye-catcher with her newly Awlgripped hull and decks, she stands out above the crowd.

The coach house has been professionally modified for all halyards and mast running gear to lead aft to cockpit, to a self-tailing winch. Mainsail, topping lifts and guys are easy enough to be trimmed by a child. The foredeck is large to allow 2-3 adults sunning while sailing. The spacious wide decks make it easy to stroll from bow to stern before going below through the main hatch, entering into a full width galley. To starboard is a large icebox with refrigeration and ice making capacity. Above the icebox are 2 large shelves with door closures, and the 300 amp stereo booster, which controls sound through out the vessel. Aft of the refrigerator is the LINK-10 computerized battery control panel. Underneath the stairs, and under the sink, are access panels to the diesel engine. To port is the 3-burner stainless steel stove/oven, and a large locker housing the fresh water pump, hot water heater, fuel tank for the stove and ships stores for cleaning. Above sink is the fuse-block panel and ignition key. Step forward into a large convertible dinette and custom table with vessel painting. Seating for 4 to starboard and 6 to port on Herculon cushions, with 3 lockers on both sides for ample storage. Starboard side has custom in-built Color TV, CD Stereo and VHS tape player. An 80-gallon water tank under the starboard settee, and extra 225amp gel-cell battery under the cabin sole finishes out main salon. Pass through the main bulkhead into a full wide head and shower combination. No cramping here for either toilet or shower space, and plenty of drawer space under the vanity, more above the toilet and even more in a separate cabinet forward of the toilet, finished in solid teak. Opening port for fresh air, and a large hanging locker to port makes for good long distance cruising storage. Go forward to the vee berth with newly installed see-through hatch to watch the sails, or open for more fresh air. Long 6'5 berths to port and starboard, with 65-gallon fresh water tank underneath for expanded water capacity. Drawers and lockers under each berth, and 4 sliding door cabinets above each berth allow stowage of all bedding, towels, pillows etc. out of sight. A double swing teak door forward of the berths leads to the anchor locker and battery for windlass.
